In Oakland, California, a Tzu Chi USA Northwest Region team has much to celebrate, as a vision care program that they launched at the start of 2025 is thriving. The initiative began following a visit to the Oakland Service Center from Steven Voon the year before. While there, Voon, Executive Vice President of Tzu Chi Medical Foundation and Executive Director of Mobile Clinics, shared information about Tzu Chi USA’s mobile vision care programs.

For a week, from August 14-18, 2023, a large Tzu Chi delegation participated in the Parliament of the World’s Religions (PoWR) in Chicago, Illinois, an event gathering civic, spiritual, and grassroots changemakers in the windy city. Held at the McCormick Place Lakeside Center, part of the McCormick Place campus, the largest convention center in North America, located on Chicago’s lakefront, the PoWR brought together over 7,000 people from nearly 100 countries, representing over 200 spiritual traditions.
While Tzu Chi volunteers are at the forefront of Tzu Chi’s global missions, providing charity and disaster relief assistance, offering educational and medical care services, and more, another team is working behind the scenes: The Global Partnership Affairs Department, or GPAD, in short.

This year, 2022, marks an unforgettable one indeed, as we celebrate three active decades of youth empowerment with the Tzu Chi Collegiate Association (TCCA). Alongside this milestone, the 2022 TCCA Leadership Conference, too, was set to create everlasting memories. It had been three years since TCCA members had their last in-person conference.
