In this 76th issue of the Tzu Chi USA Journal, we reflect on the resilience and compassion that can shine through even in times of crisis. The recent Los Angeles wildfires have underscored the urgency of rapid, coordinated disaster relief, and our dedicated volunteers have answered the call with unwavering determination and heart.

Our cover story, “Ready and Determined: The Los Angeles Wildfires Disaster Relief Mission,” takes readers on a detailed journey through our immediate response to the catastrophic Palisades and Eaton Fires and the extensive aid efforts carried out through February 23, 2025.

Offering more detail, our feature, “Love Converges at the 2025 Wildfires Resource Hub,” highlights the relief efforts in Pasadena, California, from January 27 to February 1 at a one-stop aid location co-hosted by California National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, Emergency Network Los Angeles, and Kaiser Permanente. It also follows Eaton Fire survivor David’s journey of strength and healing with support from Tzu Chi’s Vision Mobile Clinic.

Our next feature, “The Team Behind the Scenes of Tzu Chi’s Relief,” highlights the Tzu Chi USA Northwest Region’s critical role in verifying disaster survivor data during the Los Angeles wildfires mission. The verification team maintained organized, efficient, and accurate aid distribution, preventing duplicate relief claims and making sure aid reached those who needed it most.

Finally, “Setting Compassion in Motion Across the Nation” reveals how Tzu Chi USA’s Help Los Angeles Heal campaign inspired volunteers, faith leaders, and communities across the U.S. to support wildfire survivors.
